Music

Music has the ability to soothe and calm our nervous system and is uniquely linked to our emotions. Particularly powerful is slow, quiet classical music which has been proven to slow the pulse and heart rate, lower blood pressure and decrease stress hormone levels. As musical preference varies widely, only you can decide what you enjoy and calms you.

Music has the ability to soothe and calm our nervous system and is uniquely linked to our emotions. Particularly powerful is slow, quiet classical music which has been proven to slow the pulse and heart rate, lower blood pressure and decrease stress hormone levels. Other research has shown that music at 528Hz and 432Hz calms your autonomic nervous system and heart (and quick google search will bring lots of examples up for you.) As musical preference varies widely, only you can decide what you enjoy and calms you.

The worlds most relaxing song

Neuroscientist from the UK found that one piece of music – “Weightless” – resulted in a 65% reduction in participants’ overall anxiety, and a 35% reduction in their usual physiological resting rates. Marconi Union created it with sound therapists and its harmonies, rhythms and bass lines all help slow a listener’s heart rate, reduce blood pressure and lower levels of cortisol (often known as the stress hormone.) Please note that the song is so effective that it is considered dangerous to play while driving. So please don’t!
